Season 7[]

(7.1)

  • [Panel interviews] "This, for me personally, is the most nerve-wracking part."
  • "Finally, after three years, I made it to training camp. Finally."

(7.2)

  • "I’ve danced on professional teams before, and no one has made me as nervous and Kelli and Judy does. There’s a lot at stake tonight. First impressions are a big deal."

(7.3)

  • "So far, training camp’s pretty overwhelming. Taking two days off is actually really good because if you stretch and kick every day, your legs just get tighter and your body’s just really run down, so it was good to have two days off."
  • "When they told us that we were doing the jump split tonight, I thought, “Oh, no, this is way too soon".”
  • "I’m shorter than everybody else and my legs are a little bit shorter and so it just appears to be not as high as someone that’s 5’8”.
  • [Called into the office] " (Kelli and Judy) absolutely could cut me tonight. Tonight could be my last night."
  • [Before office] "I don’t know what to expect. I’m so nervous. I mean, this could make or break me tonight, definitely."
  • [After office] "Tonight, (Kelli and Judy) basically told me, just stretch, stretch, stretch. And I’m gonna go home and work on it, and hopefully they just see some potential in me, and hopefully they just believe in me that I’ll practice and get ‘em up."
  • [Uniform fitting] "Today is definitely a dream for me – I mean, ever since I was little, I’ve been wanting to see what it’s like to be in the uniform, and now that it’s here, I’m just, like, wow, my dreams almost came true. You still have to work really have to stay in the uniform. It’s not yours yet. That’s what the hard part is."

(7.5)

  • [Cameo shoot] "I am actually getting to put on my stars today. You dream of what you would look like and what it would feel like to have on this outfit. And it’s not mine yet, but I get to at least put in on, so…"
  • "You know, kicking has always been a weakness of mine. My kicks have improved, but tonight is just gonna be the telltale sign of whether my hard work pays off. So, I am very nervous for tonight’s practice. I’ve been dreading it all week."
  • "Kicking is very hard, and that’s the first time I’ve even hooked up with someone in a line and had to kick with them, so that is my weak point."

(7.6)

  • "The vibe today is so tense. It’s kind of an overwhelming feeling being out here on the field for the first time, knowing that it’s do or die tonight."

(7.7)

  • [In her locker after making team] "I’m just going to stay here and sleep all night."
  • [Gets uniform] "This is a long time coming. I cannot wait to put it on. After three years of trying to get in, it is such a surreal feeling. I can’t believe it. I’m just speechless right now."
  • "When you’re up there in that photo, you have to stay there for a very, very long time. Longer than you think. It’s really hard. It’s kind of like a workout, all in itself."
  • [Squad photo] "I will never forget this day. And I can’t wait, I hope, one of these days, I can show it to my kids and they can show their kids."
  • [In the tunnel] "I think it just now hit me that I’m a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader."

(7.8)

  • [Silver and Blue football event] "I have butterflies in my stomach because Jerry Jones will be there and all the players actually get to watch us and the coaching staff. So, it’ll be interesting."
  • [First appearance] "We are all dressed and ready to go, and we’re about to go upstairs and greet all the guests that are arriving for the appearance tonight. This is our first time in the public together altogether as one squad, and I’m so excited."

(7.10)

  • "Tonight, we are at practice at the stadium, and we are actually rehearsing for our very first regular season game. It’s a lot of pressure on us to look really good."
  • [Positioned changed for injuries] "I’m one of the ones that actually has to change formations on every single thing – on our triangle, on our straight lines – and it’s a lot."
  • "Not only do we perform at halftime today and each quarter change and pregame, but we also have to do the performance upstairs. My family’s coming to watch, and I love that they’re gonna be here to support me, but it adds a lot of pressure on me, because I want to do really good for them."
  • "We are so excited to be here. You know, it’s not very often we get to do this. We get to hype everybody up before the game. My husband is going to be here. He’s my biggest fan. He has a “Team Kali” shirt on. He’s ready to go."
  • "When we got out there, you could just feel the energy of the crowd. It was really loud, and they were really excited to see us, and we were just as excited to see them."

(7.11)

  • [Performing at Susan B. Komen breast cancer awareness halftime show ] "It’s scary. I’ve always been the person who lifts. I’ve never been the person in the air. And so, I think I could tell somebody how to do it but it all goes out the window when I’m the one that’s going up there. It goes out the window."
  • "I know I can do it [lifted up]. When the time is here, I will not fall. I will get it together."
  • "You know it’s not very often we get to have fun and just relax like this. It’s usually pretty crazy, but this is definitely a very special day."
  • "There’s a little bit of pressure on us today because we’re all a little nervous. About to do several stunts and basically if I fall, the whole thing goes down."
  • "I’m really, really nervous about it. This is the first time we’ve ever done it full-out. Stunts, pyramids, all our partner work."
  • "I’ve been nervous before, but this one is just first halftime, Monday Night Football. And I have all the stunts at the end, so yeah, it’s pretty stressful right now. If I can just get through this and third quarter, I’ll be fine."
  • [After performance] "All the stunts hit. Our partner work was great. At the end, you’re up there and everyone’s like screaming because you hit it, and it’s awesome. So, we’ve got like two minutes to change and get back out there for third quarter."

Season 8[]

(8.2)

  • [Finals] "As a veteran, I know what I have to lose if I don’t make it, so this is a really, really important audition for me."
  • "If I don’t make it, I would be just devastated."
  • [Not invited back to training camp] "I never thought I had it in the bag. I was nervous from the beginning. I never thought I was just going to walk back on. I did everything I could, so I guess it just wasn’t enough."

Commentary[]

Season 6[]

(6.2)

  • "You want to watch. [Kitty adjusts her bra] Giving us too much. Yeah, because you’ve got a lot, girlfriend." – Kitty Carter
  • "She’s very chesty, which makes you look kind of, you know, humpty-dumpty, so depending on how the judges feel about that, I don’t know." – Kitty

Season 7[]

(7.1)

  • "I think those kicks are horrible on Kali." – Judy/"If you had problems with Mackenzie, you’re gonna have more problems." – Charlotte
  • [Finals deliberation] She got high notes when she did that whole Marilyn thing./ See, I actually thought that was a clever use of her strengths and weaknesses. – K/ Same thing, she got me at her solo, but I do so I have that her kicks are low and her splits were off/ Think her kicks are lower than Mackenzie’s? – K/ A lot. – J/ Really? – K

(7.3)

  • [Kickline] There’s nowhere to hide her. – J
  • Kali, your kicks need to be higher. – J
  • At this point in training camp, watching Kali doing the kickline, it’s not going to be a fit for us. She has very tight, short kicks. – J
  • Good power. Kicks are your weakness, but power is your strength, and when I watched you just now, I was kind of like, “Ah, who cares about her kicks?” But we do care about the kicks, that’s a must-have, but your dancing makes us not want to care. – K
  • [To Ashley Marie] You’re next to Kali and she’s kind of a power dancer and Mackenzie’s in my view and so you got two little dynamites over here and you got to keep it up. – K

(7.4)

  • I think Megan’s kicks are kinda low. – K/ Yeah, they are low. Very low. – J/ So are Kali’s but she’s nowhere close to Kali’s performance. – K/ They’re as bad as Kali’s right now. – J
  • Megan and Kali, your kicks looked a little bit low, along with Chelsea’s. – J

(7.5)

  • Come on, Kali, get those legs up! – Kitty Carter
  • I didn’t think Kali’s great, but I think she’s good. I mean, I’m not wowed by her. – Kitty Carter
  • She looks pretty in her uniform. – K/ Mmhmm, makes her not look as top heavy. – J
  • I think Kali’s going to have to go down on the kickline just to make her foot appear to be over her head. – J
  • If it weren’t for Kali’s kicks, she’d be a shoe in, but I think she’s giving us just about everything she’s got. – K

(7.7)

  • Kali’s gonna need sleeves. I mean, honestly on-screen her broad shoulders and boobs make her look heavy up there. – K

(7.10)

  • [Watching video of kickline] Kalli, doesn’t look good. – K
  • Kalli’s kicks are alarmingly low right now. It’s something that we’re really gonna have to think about. She’s on the end of that kickline. Photographers are getting pictures of her. She needs to really step it up so she looks like the rest of the team. – J

(7.11)

  • [Being lifted by male cheerleaders] I am really worried about Kali. I’m not sure that she can do this. I just assumed by her body type that she was really strong and this would come easy for her. I don’t want to do anything to injure her, and we need this to be perfect. – J
  • [Being lifted male cheerleaders] Is Kali the best candidate for this? [Kali falls] Oh God! Um, yes. I’m speechless. I just see an injury waiting to happen. – K
  • [Falling after being lifted] Kali scares me. – J
  • I’m a little concerned still about Kali going up in a pyramid because, as of our last rehearsal, she still was not foolproof. She was falling and it was hit or miss every other time. That will ruin the whole finale if she falls. – J

Season 8[]

(8.2)

  • That blouse isn’t helping her waistline any. – K/ I know. – J
  • Kali looks short and squatty up here… All right, decide if we like her weight or not, because this is who she is. – K/ She looks really soft, though. – J
  • She’s at risk. – K
  • [Finals deliberations] I just think that the standards are higher for people that know the terrain. She should be in the solar system with her dance, with her look, but she was soft. – Jay/ Great body./ She had a great body. Is it because she didn’t have six-pack abs?/ You’re the hair guy. I’m the fitness guy, okay?  You get it? That ain’t fitness. That isn’t okay. I’m not going to give them a pass because they were DCC. – Jay/ I thought she looked fine. She’s not one of the skinny ones. I like her a lot./ I like her, too. – K

Office Visits[]

Season 7[]

(7.3)

  • [Mid episode, second of three] Kelli says she feels like they’ve had this conversation before, but this is actually her first time into training camp. Kali jokes that she’s had this nightmare before. Kelli jokes that she doesn’t want to be her nightmare. She says that she has great power and her kicks are tight. That’s what’s been keeping her out of training camp. Now she’s in training camp, and the question is whether she can get more flexible and more height in her kicks? Kali says she’s been working on it every day, and feels her right ones getting better. Kelli says they’re not trying to threaten her, but this is an honest assessment. Judy says it’ll be a shame to go through all of training camp, and she’s been one of the top powerhouses, and then at the last minute, get concerned because she can’t stand in the kickline. Kelli adds that every time the TCC’s are sitting around, she should sit and stretch. Watch TV and stretch. Kali adds that she’s going to do hot yoga. [Kali leaves] Kelli says it seems like she’s been in training camp before since they are so familiar with her, but she hasn’t. They agree they like her, but Judy adds that no one deserves to be on the field if they can’t be in the kickline.
